Privacy Policy

Sproglings (“we”, “us”) is a family organiser app for managing tasks and calendars. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect only what's needed to run the service for your family.
Who is responsible for your data
Sproglings is the data controller for the information processed through the app. If you have any questions or requests, contact us at hello@sproglings.co.uk.
Information we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and a securely hashed password.
- Profile & preferences: display name, chosen colour, theme and display settings.
- Family information: your family name and the members you add — including children, who are added by an adult and have no login of their own.
- Your content: the tasks, lists and calendar events you create.
- Connected calendars (optional): if you choose to connect a Google or Apple/iCloud calendar, we read your event details (title, time, location, description) to display them in Sproglings. This access is read-only — we never create, edit or delete events in your external calendars.
- Connection credentials: the access tokens or app-specific passwords needed to sync a connected calendar, stored encrypted.
- Billing information (paid plans): your subscription status and billing records. Card payments are handled by our payment processor, Stripe — we do not see or store your full card number.
- Technical data: standard session and log information needed to keep you signed in and to operate the service securely.
How we use your information
- To provide the app — your tasks, lists and calendar — to you and your family members.
- To display events from any calendars you choose to connect.
- To send essential account emails, such as verifying your email or resetting your password.
- To keep the service secure and working correctly.
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Legal bases (UK/EU GDPR)
We process your data to perform our contract with you (providing the service), on the basis of your consent (for connecting external calendars, which you can withdraw at any time), and for our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe and reliable.
Sharing & third parties
We only share data with the providers needed to run Sproglings:
- Hosting: our application and database are hosted on Laravel Cloud.
- Payments: subscriptions are processed by Stripe, which handles your card details securely on our behalf. We receive only your subscription status and limited billing information — never your full card number. Stripe processes this data in line with its own privacy policy.
- Google & Apple: only if you connect a calendar — we access your calendar data through their official APIs under the permission you grant.
- Email delivery: if email is enabled, account emails are sent via a transactional email provider.
- Analytics: our public website pages use Google Analytics to measure aggregate usage. This does not apply to the signed-in app.
Google Calendar data is used and transferred in accordance with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Children
Children added to a family are managed by the adult family members and do not have their own login or email. The responsible adults control what information is added about them and can remove it at any time.
Keeping & deleting your data
- Disconnect a calendar at any time in Settings → Calendars; the events it brought in are removed from Sproglings.
- Delete your profile in Settings, which removes your account and personal lists.
- If you're the family organiser and the last member, deleting your profile removes the whole family and its data.
- We keep your data only for as long as your account exists, plus a short period for backups.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent for optional features. Most of this you can do directly in the app; for anything else, email hello@sproglings.co.uk.
Cookies & analytics
Inside the signed-in app we use only essential cookies needed to keep you signed in and to operate securely.
On our public website pages (such as the home, features, pricing, contact and sign-in pages) we also use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the site is found and used — for example which pages are visited and general device and region information. Google Analytics 4 does not store your full IP address, and we do not use this data to identify you personally, sell it, or use it for advertising.
A short notice tells you about these cookies when you first visit. You can opt out by declining or clearing cookies in your browser, by using a browser or extension that blocks analytics, or by installing Google's opt-out add-on. Analytics is not used on the signed-in app.
Security
Connections are encrypted in transit (HTTPS), passwords are hashed, and calendar credentials are stored encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll change the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
